I read recently that national property maintenance specialists Novus Property Solutions had begun restoring the exterior of a magnificent baroque mansion in York.

Beningbrough Hall is an 18th century Italian-style baroque mansion house set in beautiful landscaped gardens.  It is owned and managed by the National Trust in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery. The wonderful architecture of the house provides an ideal setting for the display of the many 18th century portraits which adorn its walls.

Novus has been asked to carry out extensive repairs and redecoration to the exterior of the property over the next twelve months and have already completed repairs to the exterior woodwork and metalwork of the main hall and several cottages on the estate.

The colour specification has been carried out in close consultation with the National Trust.  It involved specially mixing colours from Dulux’s exterior range to match the old lead paint used at Beningbrough Hall as closely as possible to ensure that the refreshed paintwork remained in keeping with the building’s heritage.

It is intended that the hall should remain open throughout the duration of the project so access for the public has been a major priority and challenge.  A full scaffolding system would have been too disruptive so a cherry picker has been used to access the most difficult to reach areas. This will have to be moved around the site regularly throughout the course of the project so Novus will be working closely with staff to ensure the process runs smoothly each time.

Now, I have never undertaken a task on such a huge scale but I can say that I am as concerned and careful about preparation as Novus obviously are.  If you want a professional decorating job done in Gloucestershire to the highest standard then contact me today.
